Labor Day on The Arcade & Attica Railroad : The Arcade & Attica is a small shortline in Upstate New York, continually serving Wyoming County since 1917. The right-of-way of the railroad has been graded for over 150 years, and after many starts and stops of construction, the first train rolled the length of the route between the name-cities in 1881. Because of business downturn and the flooding of Tonawanda Creek, the line was cut back from Attica to current northern terminus North Java in 1957. Besides the regular Labor Day excursion trains, we were also treated to a freight extra! The extra was running down from the A&A's main customer, the Reisdorf Brothers feed mill at North Java. They run the excursions with a 2-8-0 Consolidation steam locomotive, and the freight with a pair of 44-ton GE diesel locomotives.

Blue Coal's Huber Breaker, Ashley, PA : Blue Coal's Huber Breaker, located in Ashley, PA, was the largest anthracite breaker in operation until it was shuttered for good in the seventies. Corn Train Meet On The Falls Road Railroad : August 25, 2009 meet of two corn trains bound for the Western New York Energy ethanol plant in Medina, NY. The Falls Road Railroad is a shortline in the Genesee Valley Transportation family in Upstate New York. It was built as a director competitor to the Erie Canal, and paces the water over the entire Brockport to Lockport length of the line.
